Frequently asked questions

“Probiotics are usually talked about in the context of food, and they’re added to things like yoghurt for health
benefits. They are often described as “good bacteria” since they are thought to help redress the natural
balance of bacteria found in the gut when affected by illness.
That’s in the context of food, but when we talk about probiotics, we are referring to the innovative ways we
use them in cleaning products.
Ordinarily, people use harsh chemicals and corrosive cleaning products for cleaning purposes. n-kind products promote a system that emphasises probiotics at the heart of the cleaning process. They clean with the environment, rather than against it – which is exactly what the corrosive nature of harsh cleaning
products does. The result is a substantially deeper, longer-lasting and more natural clean compared to products that only use chemistry compounds.”

“We want to help pioneer using probiotics in cleaning products. It means that n-kind cleaning products contain living organisms, that have a positive impact on the environment around them. They grow and become active and do lots of good things that chemicals can’t do, such as working continuously,
which in turn provides a deeper clean. Products are essentially fermented bacteria that is concentrated and mixed with green surfactants
to create a cleaning product. Probiotics in cleaning are becoming increasingly important.”

“Probiotics work continuously, providing a longer, deeper clean, in contrast harsh chemicals only last a few
seconds after application. We’re improving safety by using probiotics in cleaning, making them easier to
work with. They are less aggressive than chemical cleaners, which essentially try to lift dirt. Probiotics break
dirt down into small pieces which are easier to lift. This results in improvement of cleaning over a longer
period.”

There are no specific regulations when it comes to probiotics in cleaning products. They are currently being reviewed for the the European detergents directive and there is some guidance from accrediation bodies such as Greenseal and EcoLabel etc. The coding above such as BSEN???? refers to specific test methodology used to determine factors around performance. There is no current standard test for probiotics but we suspect there will be in future. This applies more to sanitiser where it has been tested to EN14476 and EN1476. nt.”
For germs as in microbes it’s a 5 log drop over 5 minutes so 99.999% decrease in bacteria in that timeframe. For viruses its 4 log so 99.99% reduction over the same timeframe. If we are talking about the probiotic products we can not make these claims because of BPR and there is no vehicle currently for us to approve them as a biocide, however we do know they have very strong control effects on pathogens without the use of chemistry and there is a lot of research in this area.
Extensively tested to deliver excellent infection control and cleaning performance. The sanitiser conforms to EN14476 and EN1476
“Probiotics are absolutely safe for children, pets and adults! They’re found in entirely natural settings, and the ones we use are not harmful to people or the environment. We use probiotics in our cleaning products because we want to move away from harsh chemical products to create something more organic. So whether using our products at home or in a professional setting, you can always rely on their intended use and have confidence in the knowledge that they will never have any unknown or adverse effects on your health.”
You can dispose of the consumer product in the waste water system without concern. In fact the microbes actually help to improve the degradation of common drain problems like fats oils and grease which cause blockage and bad odour.

Cleaning needs to be carried out in two stages. First use a cleaning product to remove visible dirt from surfaces and equipment. Then disinfect them using the correct dilution and contact time for the disinfectant.
Not noticeably, however, the product does stay on the the surface and continue to act, the beauty of pro-biotics is that they always eat dirt, providing a protective layer on your surfaces.
No, not at all the probiotics create a positive biofilm on the surface which is microscopic and cant be noticed by touch or sight however this biofilm contains the organisms and helps them to colonise and degrade the material on the surface and gets to work on new material added to the surface making cleaning less frequent and less physical action required.
Yes, the N-kind range is suitable for all surfaces, we’d recommend Clean15 and No.1 Hard surface cleaner for a metals, the washroom cleaner is also very effective for basins and taps.
Not specifically unless we are talking about the sanitiser which does have an descalant effect. We also have descalants for this if required based on lactic acid
Yes, the N-kind range is suitable for all commonly found surfaces, we’d recommend Clean15 and No.1 Hard surface cleaner for a stone surface like Marble.
Yes absolutely.
None strictly required as the products are COSHH free when in use. However, it would be good practice to wear gloves in case of potential allergic reactions etc however I suggest this is only guidace for the sanitiser.
The products contain no animal by-products and are not tested on animals
Yes the bacteria we use in the probiotics are found in nature and they are also included or tested to the QPS system with the European Food Standards Agency for inclusion in food and therefore safe for use in these environments.
n-kind dosage bottles dispense liquid in measured doses using a simple ‘invert and pour’ method. This system is vastly superior to older systems that involve the consumer squeezing the bottle, product cannot be spilled onto the user’s hands when using the n-kind dosage bottles. The dosed amount is simply added to the relevant amount of water, as instructed on the bottle.
Packaging is made from recycled plastics, which can also be recycled.
